Questions About Starting Therapy?
frequently Asked Questions
I’m glad you’re here and considering this step toward greater clarity and growth. The first step is a free 15‑minute phone consultation. During this time, we can talk briefly about what brings you to therapy, answer any questions, and see if it feels like a good fit to work together.
If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your first in‑person session in my Union Square office and take it one step at a time. I’m here to support you through the process and any uncertainties that may arise along the way.
The core of my practice is in‑person therapy at my Union Square office in Manhattan. Meeting in person often allows for a deeper and more grounded connection.
I also offer occasional virtual sessions for travel, illness, or other temporary circumstances, but ongoing therapy is primarily in‑person.
Individual sessions are typically 45 minutes.
In our first session, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy and establish a regular weekly time that works for you. Many people find that meeting once a week provides a good rhythm for meaningful progress. Some clients choose to meet twice a week for more focused work.
The length and frequency of sessions depend on your goals and needs, and we can adjust the pace as our work unfolds.
I am not in‑network with insurance companies and do not bill them directly. Many clients use out‑of‑network benefits to receive partial reimbursement for sessions.
If you plan to use your benefits, it’s helpful to contact your insurance company to understand your out‑of‑network mental health coverage, deductible, and reimbursement process.
I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes everything your insurance company needs to process an out‑of‑network therapy claim, such as dates, session type, and billing codes.
Here’s how it works:
- You pay for sessions directly at the time of your appointment.
- At the end of the month, I provide a superbill.
- You submit the superbill to your insurance company.
- If your plan includes out‑of‑network benefits, your insurance company reimburses you directly according to your plan.
