Couples Therapy

Most couples come to therapy not because of one dramatic event, but because of the accumulation: the same argument on a loop, a distance that crept in without either of you choosing it, the sense that you care deeply for each other and yet that care does not seem to land when you actually talk.

In sessions, we slow down what happens between you in real time, how you communicate, how conflict escalates, and what each of you feels when tension rises. We also explore how each partner’s family history, cultural context, and earliest relationship templates continue to shape the present. Often the ways you learned to manage conflict, express need, or protect yourself long ago became the blueprint for how you relate now. Understanding those patterns without blame is what makes room for something new.

This perspective is particularly helpful for interracial and cross-cultural couples navigating different unspoken rules and family expectations, and for couples where one or both of you are children of immigrants, building a relationship that may look nothing like the ones you grew up watching. The goal is not to decide who is right, but to understand the cycle you are caught in together, so you can move through conflict more genuinely and feel more connected on the other side of it.
