Late-Diagnosed Neurodivergence
When holding it together stops working
Many people spend years holding it together in a way that looks effortless from the outside and feels like white-knuckling from the inside. You get the work done, but the cost stays hidden: the crash afterward, the systems keeping everything upright, the sense that you are running on something everyone else seemed to come with.
Recognizing ADHD or autism as an adult
More adults are recognizing, in their late twenties, thirties, and beyond, that what they took for a personal failing was actually ADHD or autism that went unnamed for years. If you achieved, masked well, or were called gifted, the signs were easy to miss. Coming to that understanding later carries a particular mix of feeling: relief in finally having an explanation, and often grief for the younger version of you who tried so hard and blamed themselves.
Making sense of masking and burnout
Therapy is a space to make sense of what this reshapes. We explore how masking shaped your relationships and your sense of self, the perfectionism and burnout that so often come with it, and the identity that is still forming now that you have language for your experience. This work is reflective rather than corrective. The goal is not to fix you, but to understand how your mind actually works and to integrate that understanding into a fuller, more honest sense of who you are.
